Alan Barnes is one of Britain’s most distinguished and versatile saxophonists. He has enjoyed a prolific career playing and recording for many bands including the BBC Big Band and Radio Orchestra, and has toured and recorded with, among others, Freddie Hubbard, Dick Walter, Kenny Baker, Bob Wilber, Don Weller, Stan Tracey, Mike Westbrook, John Dankworth, Tina May, Bill LeSage, Spike Robinson, Clare Teale, and Don Weller.
Alan has won many British Jazz Awards (including clarinet and alto saxophone awards in 2013) and in 2010 he received a trio of prestigious BBC Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year awards, in 3 categories: for Clarinet, Alto sax and Baritone Sax.
