Andy Cleyndert Quartet

On the 21st of February we welcomed the top-flight quartet led by top bass player Andrew Cleyndert.  Andrew was invited by Titley Jazz Festival to put a band together for a concert in 2013; the quartet was so well received that it won an immediate re-booking for the following year.  Drawing on the experience of working with so many top bands and groups in a career spanning over three decades, Andrew has chosen the talents of trumpeter Martin Shaw, guitarist Colin Oxley, and pianist Mark Edwards to form his current quartet.  With no drums, the piano/bass/guitar format allows many musical permutations, with all players providing solos and accompaniment as required.  The bands arrangements are drawn from the compositions of such as Billy Strayhorn, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Ray Brown plus tunes from the standard songbook composers.
