Mike Gorman

Mike Gorman was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.  After completing a Music Degree at University College Salford, he gained experience working on the thriving Manchester music scene.  Mike moved to London in 1995, to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Jazz and Studio Music.  Since then he has established himself as one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists and organists making regular appearances with many of the country’s leading jazz musicians in London and throughout the UK including Peter King, Don Weller, Bobby Wellins, Guy Barker, Alan Skidmore, Peter King, Bobby Wellins, Art Themen, Stan Sulzmann, Alan Barnes, Danny Moss, Georgie Fame, Stacey Kent, Tina May and Clare Teal.

He has also worked with US artists such as Jimmy Witherspoon, Ken Peplowski, Bill Watrous, Lanny Morgan, Gwen McCrae and Marlena Shaw.  Mike released his debut album “The Maze” on the label 33 Records in March 2002.  The album received critical acclaim and was named Jazz CD of the Month in the Nov ’02 BBC Music Magazine.  As a jazz organist, Mike is a key member of the Jim Mullen Organ Trio, with whom he as recorded 3 acclaimed albums.

Mike is also in great demand as a session player touring and recording extensively with a wide variety of artists in the field of popular and commercial music, including Boy George, Mica Paris, Incognito, Us3, Van Morrison, Hamish Stuart, Marty Pellow, Marlena Shaw, Gwen McCrae, Andrea Bocelli and Tom Robinson.
